SBNation Mock Draft, Pick #21: New Jersey Nets

With the twenty-first pick in the 2008 SBNation NBA Mock Draft, the New Jersey Nets, represented by NetsDaily , select...

Donte Green, Forward, Syracuse University. 6-9, 221 lbs.

Nets Daily  says:

With our pick of Brook Lopez at No. 10, we'd like to get a wing at No. 21, with a glaring need for a shooter and/or defender to back up Carter and Jefferson. And if Jefferson is dealt this summer, that need becomes greater. So, Brandon Rush would have been our top choice here, but he's long gone. So is Chris Douglas-Roberts.

The bigs available (McGee, Koufos, Ajinca, Hickson, Robin Lopez) look to be a stronger crop than the wings, and the urge to draft true twin towers is tough to resist, we believe that Donte Greene is the guy here.

Nicolas Batum is another wing to consider, but Greene gives the Nets a shooter with potential to grow into a pretty talented player, given his size, athleticism and wingspan.

But looking back, we may regret not taking Gallinari with pick No. 10, because then we could have gone with a small-big combo of Gallinari and either Koufos or Hickson, which may be stronger than Lopez and Greene.

The Orlando Magic, represented by Third Quarter Collapse are on the clock.
