but I think it’s miniscule here. Blazers are stacked at the guard position now, and unless Blake suddenly forgets how to play basketball or Jerryd outshines CP3 and DWill in the Team USA training scrimmages, I don’t think Nate McMillan will start Bayless at point. Not only is Blake a reliable vet, but Bayless’ skills as a scorer (right now) translate better if he came of the bench with the second unit. The bench unit, most probably consisting of Bayless/Rudy Fernandez/Travis Outlaw/Channing Frye/Joel Pryzbilla, could provide offensive punch with shooting from Outlaw, penetration and shooting from Rudy, and just relentless driving from Bayless. That kind of offensive firepower from the 2nd unit can really put opponents on their heels, as most teams just don’t boast the kind of depth the Blazers do.
