Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

As reported by KERO 23 (Bakersfield's ABC affiliate), center Robert Swift will be playing for the Bakersfield Jam this season. Swift played high school basketball in the area, and was last seen not doing so well in Summer League. Swift has had some injury problems during his young career, but the fact is he just hasn't developed much in the NBA. Hey, that's what the D-League is for!

Swift doesn't seem like the right player to market to upscale customers

Unless they can somehow sell him as a D-League Birdman, but he isn’t extroverted or athletic enough for that.

But slowly things happen that they cannot help and the Blazers Fellowship of the Ring begins to break apart

Well, he played in the NBA for several years

and was a first-round pick, so I suppose they can market that. It will be interesting to see how he does, because he was okay but not great during Summer League, but maybe he’ll be a little more motivated now.

Ridiculous Upside, where developing talent and winning are not mutually exclusive.
