Around SBN: Knicks 90, Raptors 87: "Shump and Lin wouldn't let us lose."

Since the D-League hasn't updated it's transactions page, I'll get this out there for all of my hardcore readers.

Remember Othella Harrington? 1992 McDonald's All-American game MVP? Played with Allen Iverson at Georgetown? He's 35 now.

After 12 NBA seasons, most recently appearing in 22 games with Charlotte last season, he's apparently trying the D-League with the Los Angeles D-Fender's. Wow.

He didn't have a great start last night - in 11:30, he missed his only shot attempt, got one offensive board, and turned the ball over four times. He did have two blocks, but still.

My question is, why would the D-League add a 35 year-old journeyman, if the NBA can only assign players with a maximum of two years experience?

Huh.

I did see the boxscore and thought, “that has to be a diffferent O. Harrington.”

Me too

I mean, Nancy Liebermann appeared in a box score this season, so I assumed something was up. Turns out, it is the actual Othella Harrington. Hope he develops well.

I talked to DJ last night

He said he has no clue. He’s practicing well, but since they haven’t dressed him, he doesn’t know. I’ll post something here as soon as he lets me know. I think tomorrow is the day we’ll find out.

Yikes

Weird move by both the D League and Harrington

That's what I don't get...

He also came in for the lowest contract possible, which baffles me ever more. How is a 14 year NBA vet going to come into the D-League and play for $15,000 prorated? Sure, he probably has plenty of money, but wouldn’t that be degrading to know?

Maybe

he just wants to play some lower level American ball until his knees completely give out. Wouldn’t there be a better outlet for that….like the ABA? By the way, I noticed on the McDonalds AA website that Othella has the 2nd highest rebound margin in McD’s game history with 21. I think that was sometime in the 1930’s, pre-war.
