According to the USA Today, Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been released from the Spurs. He was able to show what he can do however, averaging 5 points and 3.3 boards in 20 minutes of action over three games. While I'm assuming this is a move to pick up Drew Gooden, it isn't fair to Pops, who got a call-up, did everything asked of him, and then gets cut.
Regardless, I'm assuming he won't be back in Austin for long. Toronto has been looking for an athletic big, and Pops certainly would fit the bill.
