SBNation NBA Mock Draft, Pick #20: Utah Jazz

With the twentieth pick in the SBNation Mock Draft, the Utah Jazz, represented by SBN's very own SLC Dunk, select... (Drum Roll please)

James Johnson. Can't believe he's still on the board. I was leaning towards someone a little more defensive-minded, like Sam Young, given Utah's recent struggles, but I couldn't pass up Johnson.

We're going with the best player available route. His length and athleticism would be a welcome edition to the "Salt Lake Jazz."

What about Terrence Williams?

I’m depressed now.

They must have been

disappointed that Tyler Hansbrough was off the board. He fits the Jazz like a glove in more ways than one.

I'm not very high on Johnson

I guess I’ll have to do more research.

I’ve been thinking that he’ll be gone before #20 (Detroit, Phoenix, Chicago, who knows) so haven’t done much research. Give me a second while I go browse DX and nbadraft.net

Well

His 3-point shooting is mediocre, and he needs help on D (awareness).
He takes a lot of bad shots early in the shot clock and out of the offense.
Streaky shooter.
70% FT shooter.

Good at finishing around the hoop. Good passer.
‘Point-forward’ type player.
Solid offensive moves.

I guess my biggest issue would be that he’s probably not what the Jazz need defensively, but I guess he’s a ‘lottery pick’ (or close) for some reason or another. Still sad it’s not T-Will, but I could grow on the pick if it happened.

Which brings up the other question (which would be true for T-Will too)… where does he play? Do the Jazz give up on CJ now? Or not resign Korver? Or trade AK?

Sorry for the lack of analysis

This snuck up on me and I needed to get something in to Scott while at work. My Ball Don’t Lie post will have more on him.

Did I miss something?

There appears to not have been a pick at 20 and Hornets is in the title of this one?

Like this pick though.
