Meet the Springfield Armor

Logo_300_medium

That's right, the Springfield Armor.  The name was selected by a poll, and beat out Colonials, Founders, Spirit, and "write-in."  Why Armor?  According to the press release,

The name "Armor" pays tribute to the historic Springfield Armory, which has served as a symbol of strength and stability for Western Massachusetts and the United States as a whole since George Washington authorized its creation in 1777.

It's true that armor is a symbol of strength, but based on that logo it also may be a symbol of limited mobility.  It also looks like the team's primary colors will be red, blue and black, though there may be some silver in there as well.

I'll have a larger post detailing next season's affiliations, but Springfield will be affiliated with the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers.

We should talk

Also, I guess this really isn’t much different than the Anaheim Arsenal.

Well

The Arsenal didn’t have a mascot. Or a gorilla dressed as a knight/Space Ghost To Coast.

That's actually a picture of Moltar

which is how I’m going to refer to the Armor mascot from now on.

Sorry Norsk

As much as I appreciate the fine arts, it freaked me out when I was trying get down to the bottom comment and I saw a blown up weiner.
For anyone that didn’t see the picture, this comment is probably more awkward than the picture, so I apologize.

The angle of that dangle was odd....

I agree Scott. But Norsk, I appreciate what you were trying to do, culturing us all with your love of the arts.
