D-League Update: Maine Red Claws Closing in on Head Coach
Austin Ainge, son of NBA great Danny Ainge, is mentioned as one of three possible candidates for the Red Claws, the other two going unnamed. My only question: Is he actually qualified to be a head coach? Or are local ties and nepotism outweighing experience and a winning resume? But maybe I'm being too harsh and cynical.

Yeah, this is...confusing.
Maybe confusing isn’t the right word, but there are too many qualified guys available to start your franchise’s first season with someone with no experience whatsoever.
The only thing I could think of is that because the D-League’s been primarily in the midwest and west the last few years, a lot of coaches have ties to those areas now and may not want to chuck it all and move to Maine. Then again, I’d think a good assistant might be willing to do it in order to get a head coaching job, so who knows.
Now writing for Ridiculous Upside, now with more draft coverage.
Yeah a bunch of people come to mind here....
Just not Danny Ainge’s 27 year old son.
Blogging at RidiculousUpside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Being a named finalist...
…and a buck fifty gets you a cup of coffee.
This is complete conjecture, but young Austin isn’t going to get this job (one would not think) but who ever gets that job will have his Austin right by his side…learning the ropes and waiting his turn…which will be next…
