Maurece Rice

Rice has contacted the Bayhawks about rejoining the team according to a story in today's Erie Times News.  Coach John Treloar stated the Rice would have to get his rights released by the Azovmash Mariupol team in the Ukraine
and that the process of doing so has started.  Even though he was released by the team, they still own his rights.
Erie is looking to add a player before tonight's game versus Springfield.  Even with Mike Gansey rejoining the lineup tonight, the roster stands at 9 players.

Rice update via goerie.com

- Rice update: Erie now has a full 10-man roster, but is still pursuing former BayHawks combo guard Maureece Rice.

Treloar said Rice’s agent told him the agent and Azovmash Mariupol, the Ukrainian team Rice played for this season, have agreed on a separation agreement.

Treloar didn’t know if the 6-foot 1-inch, 225-pound Rice owed the Ukrainian team money. Rice is back in the United States but hasn’t been let out of his contract overseas, Treloar said.

Rice hasn’t played for the overseas squad since December.

As a rookie with Erie in 2008-09, Rice averaged 18.7 points, four assists and 4.5 rebounds.
