Happy Lance Allred Day!

I'm not sure if this is actually Lance's house, but it looks exactly like I'd imagined it. Books, chess, overstuffed leather chairs and Lance Allred.

According to my favorite source (Facebook - add me), today is Lance Allred's birthday.  Happy Birthday Lance!

The now 29-year old Allred put up a 25 point, 15 board game in the Stampede's kind-of-nationally televised but still tape-delayed Saturday Night VERSUS game, so he's pretty good at basketball.  He was also called-up to the Cleveland Cavaliers for part of  the 2007-08 season.

Not only is Allred good at basketball, but he's also good at writing, having penned (typed? I don't know, honestly) the brilliant Longshot: The Adventures of a Deaf Fundamentalist Mormon Kid and His Journey to the NBA.  It'd make a great gift (here's a review), but probably not for Lance's birthday.  He also just finished his second book, which is not about basketball, but probably still worth the read.  Allred's blog is also a daily read, even if it doesn't get daily updates.

If you're wondering where the birthday party is, I'll probably be holding one in my backyard when Idaho's here in Bismarck this weekend.  The high is projected to be 26, the warmest it's been here in quite awhile, so I'll probably just shovel the snow away and we can have a dance party or whatever.  Thus far, the guest list includes myself, the Stampede coaching staff - Bob MacKinnon and Joel Albelson, Lance Allred, jo22collins, fetch9 and Connor Atchley.  If it's snowing, we'll of course probably end up at Bucks.  For reference, here are some of the things we may be able to expect at this party, courtesy of Rod Bensoncowboy and old women dancing.

It shall be epic

Though, looking at the published guest list, it doesn’t look like you were invited…

I'll set up a Texas branch of the party

where it’s expected to be 62 degrees. We can connect via Ustream or Skype or Google Reader or something.

I’ll invite David McClure over to favor us with some yacht rock karaoke, while Da Bull rides around my apartment on a tricycle.

I'm sure that'll be appreciated

I can get ustream on my phone, so we may as well go that route. Skype is popular with the NBAer’s, but I don’t get that on my phone. And Google Reader, well, that’s out of style up here in Bismarck these days.

If you’re inviting McClure, you may as well invite Quin, because I assume the ex-Dookies travel in the same pack. Just make sure you don’t invite Roderick Riley if you’re having any sort of appetizers, or at least if you plan on people other than him eating appetizers.

Quin doesn't strike me as a yacht rock guy

but I’ll ask.

What about

Toros Girl? Where has she been? Maybe if you invite her she will come back to RU!!

Sadly I think she's turned into a lurker.

Maybe she’ll return with enough prodding.

She's here

Probably reading this right now, but she doesn’t live in North Dakota.
Almost certainly, she’ll be attending Jon’s party in Austin… unless I can coax Quin.

of keeping Riley away from the pizza rolls.
