I've already talked about the Temple and Conroy signings, so in the interest of trying to finish this series before all of these guys get cut, I'll skip over them now and talk about the third guy the Rockets are bringing into camp.
Romel Beck - Beck is an explosive scorer who also plays some decent defense. Unfortunately he only played 16 games for the Dakota Wizards last season due to injury, but he's an excellent three-point shooter (he made 49 percent of them in the D-League, 43 percent in Summer League) and he doesn't foul all that often. He's very athletic, though he could probably stand to bulk up a little bit. He definitely has the talent to play in the NBA, but at this point he needs to a.) show that he can stay healthy, and b.) show that he can perform well in the context of plays that aren't just isolation. The Rockets have a roster crunch, but I think they'd be wise to sign Beck and assign him to the Vipers in give him a chance to learn their offense, because I think he'd be an asset there.
