Remember when Nick Nurse left the Iowa Energy to accept a coaching job with the Iowa State Cyclones last week?
Since then, the head coach of the Cyclones at the time (Greg McDermott) left for a new coaching job with Creighton, leading to Nurse becoming one of the candidates for a promotion to head coach at Iowa State. That didn't work out, however, because they hired Minnesota Timberwolves exec, and ISU alum, Fred Hoiberg for the job.
Now Nurse is back, safe and sound, with the Iowa Energy.
The Des Moines Register's Quotes of Note:
"It didn't change my life a whole lot," Nurse said. "I'm right where I thought I would be a month ago. ... I'm still trying to get a spot on an NBA bench."
Nurse said Iowa State "will honor the terms of the contract" with him, without specifying what those are [though it was noted the original deal was a two-year contract worth $130,000 earlier in the story]. He noted that he can't draw full salaries from both the Cyclones and the Energy. The Register has requested a copy of Nurse's contract from Iowa State.
