Portland Trail Blazers Draft Larry Sanders With 22nd Pick In SB Nation's 2010 NBA Mock Draft

The 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft is still(!) underway, with each SB Nation blogger making selections for their respective teams. Dave from Blazersedge, the Portland Trail Blazers blog for SB Nation, checks in to make the twenty-second overall selection in this year's mock draft.

With the twenty-second overall pick in the 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers select Larry Sanders, power forward, Virginia Commonwealth Rams.

Dave explains: The huge caveat here is that the Blazers will either want to trade up or out of this spot.

Seeing as there are no point guards left worth taking at this spot we'll go the conservative route and take Larry Sanders from VCU.

A little bit of post play and rebounding from that position would fit in fine with this roster and there's no pressure on him to develop instantly. Craig Brackins and Solomon Alabi are possible alternatives.

Ridiculous Upside reacts: Ya know, I would have to agree that there really wasn't much available to help the Blazers at this spot in the draft.

That said, I think Daniel Orton would have been a more interesting pick here - maybe not the better pick considering he's a big man with knee issues, but the Blazers wouldn't need him immediately and he's got plenty of upside.

Ridiculous Upside's Top 5 remaining prospects: 1 - Damion James, SF, Texas. 2 - Daniel Orton, C, Kentucky. 3 - Stanley Robinson, F, Connecticut. 4 - Quincy Pondexter, F, Washington. 5 - Jordan Crawford, SG, Xavier.

Sound off, SB Nation! What say you of Sanders heading to Rip City?

And please, remember to check out Blazersedge for everything you need to know about the Blazers. They have the best site anywhere on the internet and this piece on the draft workouts (kind of) was a great read.
