With Nick Nurse Possibly Headed To The NBA, Iowa Energy Promote Nate Bjorkgren

Nick Nurse has led the Iowa Energy to the NBA D-League playoffs for the past three seasons -- and even has his team playing in the Finals this season -- so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that the Energy have promoted Nate Bjorkgren to Associate Head Coach to show that the team is committed to the excellent assistant just in case Nurse is called up by the NBA after this season.

"Nate has been an integral part of our success, and this promotion recognizes his contributions to the team under the leadership of Head Coach Nick Nurse," Jerry Crawford, managing partner of the Iowa Energy, said in a press release. "After the past three seasons and Nick's selection as league coach of the year, we believe it is possible if not probable that he will be called up to coach in the NBA."

Essentially, whenever Nurse decides to move on, Bjorkgren will be named the Energy head coach, and Crawford believes he's ready.

"Nate is ready and prepared to step up to the head coaching job, and we feel fortunate to have his caliber of talent and skill already on the team," Crawford said.

As Enrique Iglesias once said, I like it.
