Japeth Aguilar Has Promise From Team For NBA D-League Draft?

Japeth Aguilar has his sights set on breaking into the NBA, and is poised to use the D-League to start his journey. After thriving in open tryouts, a bevy of squads are gunning for the Filipino forward's talents.

As previously reported here on RidiculousUpside.com, Filipino forward Japeth Aguilar has been garnering interest from an array of NBA D-League squads after participating in a couple of open tryouts.

And it seems as though he's made quite the impression. After working out for the Santa Cruz Warriors last week, Aguilar gave the newly relocated squad enough proof, that he's the real deal, to warrant a promise from them to draft him during the D-League Draft next month, should he be available.

The 6'9 Filipino has impressed D-League staffs with his versatility, and teams are enjoying figuring out where he could possibly be a good fit on their respective rosters, according to Yahoo! Sports. Aguilar can reportedly play the center and both forward positions as well.

As he simply looked to further his number of different opportunities, Aguilar used the open tryouts to get his name out there a bit more. From there, he's been invited to work out privately for teams, and the type of skill he's been able to display has opened up even more possibilities with regard to the D-League Draft.

While a team like the Warriors makes their bid to reel him in with a draft-day promise of sorts, the aforementioned report also asserts that the Bakersfield Jam has also offered Aguilar the chance to train and work out with the team exclusively at their own facility.

Both teams appear interested, and it's safe to say each commitment from the respective team(s) is something for Aguilar to hold in high regard. After being the first team to host him for a workout however, the Filipino up and comer is reportedly more comfortable with the training regiment of the Jam.

More on this as it develops.
