Deadline Set For NBA D-League Prospects To Sign Contracts & Gain Draft Eligibility

The deadline for signing one's NBA D-League contract and gaining draft eligibility is set for this coming Wednesday, RidiculousUpside.com has learned.

As November 1st steadily approaches, the 2014 NBA D-League Draft grows nearer. Last season, approximately 180 aspiring NBA and D-League players were thrust into the player pool, eligible to be selected in the eight-round draft.

With an extra minor league team in the mix this year (the Westchester Knicks are an additional squad. The Grand Rapids Drive have taken over the Springfield Armor's spot), one would assume the number of players available will go up even higher, albeit it, perhaps only a bit.

Nevertheless, with the draft almost here, so is the deadline for entering. According to a source, RidiculousUpside.com has learned that potential D-League prospects must submit their paperwork, signing a minor league contract to subsequently gain draft eligibility, by this coming Wednesday, October 29th, at 5PM EST.

Through their own respective scouting efforts, open tryouts, private workouts, and basic familiarity with the talent around the world, respective D-League staffs figure to already have a good handle on as to who may be available, or perhaps more importantly, who they have their eyes on heading into the draft.

That said, the aforementioned deadline gives teams less than three full days to make complete and proper evaluations.
