A Quick Look at the Bakersfield Jam Training Camp Roster

The NBA D-League Draft was November 1st and teams didn't waste any time as training camps started across the league November 3rd. D-League teams must cut their roster down to 12 players.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

The Jam released their full training camp roster on Sunday following the D-League Draft with 16 players invited. The roster breakdown is well balanced with four returning players, four affiliate players, four new draft picks, two players acquired via trade and two players invited from the team's open tryouts.

At least four players will be cut at the end, or during, training camp. Let's take a look at some of the notable names on the list and some of their past achievements to date.

Returning Players

Renaldo Major -- Major is 32 years old and has the chance to break the D-League's all-time scoring record this season. Reports indicate that Ron Howard is exploring overseas options and if he doesn't return to the D-League this year it leaves the door open for Major to snag the title back. Howard currently sits at 4,325 points and Major has tallied 4,252 -- only 74 points would be needed to set the mark. Major only averaged 8.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 11 appearances for Bakersfield last year.

Draftees

Robert Vaden -- Last year Vaden played professionally in Belgium and averaged 11.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in right around 30 minutes a night. He also shot 42.5 percent overall and a healthy 41.9 percent from 3-point range so look for him to be a sniper for the Jam. Vaden last played in the D-League for the Tulsa 66ers (now the OKC Blue) in 2011-12 and averaged 12.8 points per game. At age 29 this could be Vaden's last real shot at catching an NBA team's eye.

Affiliate

Joe Jackson -- Jackson went undrafted in this year's NBA Draft and ended up playing in the NBA summer league with the Memphis Grizzlies. In four games he averaged 5.5 points in only 13.2 minutes. He landed a spot with the Phoenix Suns for the NBA preseason and though he only played in one game (2 points and 2 rebounds) they named him one of their affiliate players. Expect him to see big minutes for the Jam. Last season for Memphis he averaged 14.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
