NBA Mock Draft: Miami Heat Select Shabazz Napier From UConn

SB Nation's NBA Network conducted a mock draft with bloggers from each team site making or trading "their" team's pick. We continue with the next pick in the 2014 NBA Mock Draft with Hot Hot Hoops selecting Shabazz Napier out of UConn.

Ronald Martinez

NBA Mock Draft Pick #26, Shabazz Napier, Guard, UConn

SB Nation's Heat blog Hot Hot Hoops explains the pick:

With Mario Chalmers entering free agency after his career-worst postseason performance and with an inconsistent Norris Cole the only Miami Heat player so far on the books for next season, UConn's Shabazz Napier appears to be a solid value pick at this point in the draft.

Assuming the core of the Heatles returns, the team remains in win-now mode and will need cheap labor to fill out the rest of the roster. Napier arrives NBA-ready with championship experience and has proven he can shine under pressure playing a position the Heat need help with.

He's undersized, and he needs help in some aspects of his game (like any rookie), but the Heat should feel confident that Napier will adapt to their defensive system in due time because the tools are there. Napier has a solid chance of cracking the regular season rotation, especially if Chalmers signs elsewhere.
