NBA Mock Draft: Sacramento Kings Select Timothe Luwawu From France

New, 7 comments

SB Nation's NBA Network conducted a mock draft with bloggers from each team site making or trading "their" team's pick. We continue with the next pick in the 2016 NBA Mock Draft, with Sactown Royalty discussing their selection of Timothe Luwawu.

NBA Mock Draft Pick #11 -- Timothe Luwawu, SF, France

SBNation's Kings blog, Sactown Royalty, explains their pick:

Frankly, I'm thrilled with the results of this draft. While I held out some hope that one of Buddy Hield/Kris Dunn/Jamal Murray might fall to the 8th spot, I was more than ready to trade the pick down a little bit in order to get something of value and still get a player I was targeting which in this case was between Denzel Valentine and Luwawu.

When the Wolves took Valentine I was a little surprised and miffed because now there was a serious chance I might miss out on Luwawu. Fortunately he remained available. Luwawu provides athleticism and potential at Sacramento's weakest position (SG) and should also one day become a nice 3 and D player. Under Dave Joerger's tutelage, I have high hopes on at least the defensive side of the floor.

Ridiculous Upside Analysis: After trading down in the three-team deal with Orlando and Phoenix, the kings were still able to get a player that fits their needs. Timothe Luwawu might end up as one of the best players in this year's draft due to his solid frame (stands 6'7 with a 6'11 wingspan) and offensive versatility. With Mega Leks, Luwawu displayed himself as a fantastic cutter and solid perimeter shooter (37% from beyond the arc). Alongside that, his frame could allow him to be able to defend multiple positions in the NBA.
