The D-League announced earlier today that the Los Angeles Clippers have acquired the 26th D-League team. The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario will play for the upcoming 2017-2018 season and they have a fresh logo to accompany their team. All good, right? Not if you’re the Clippers design staff.
The Clippers Twitter account tweeted out the acquiring of their affiliate team earlier today and showed various pictures of their logo. The problem is, the older brother just showed that their younger brother looks better than them. So with that being said, let’s look into why the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario’s logo looks better than the Los Angeles Clippers.

Below we have the Los Angeles Clippers logo. The previous logos of the franchise has looked much better than this one. This one looks like a Microsoft clip art basketball with the C and LA all cramped together. It’s just not a good look for the team, kind of like the banners that they hang in the Staples Center during their games. Logos don’t necessarily matter in the games per se, but when it comes to being a brand, people would want to wear a nice logo to show the world who they root for.

If you ask me, the logo looks more the one below. This logo was featured in the LatinTimes, so to whoever turned this logo into a meme, you have a future in the sense of humor category.

Below lies the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario’s logo. The team name is on the long side, but their logo makes up for it. They do incorporate the LA Clippers clip art basketball, but they take it to a whole other level. They put the team’s official colors of blue and red in the logo, but in the other half of the circle, they make it so part resembles the agua (the blue), and shows of the hotness the team will have (the red).

The older Clippers logo is still my favorite. (I still remember constantly wearing an Elton Brand jersey as a kid.) It showed the full name, and it was pretty nice logo. It would be cool if the organization can go back to this logo one day, but for modern technology’s sake, they have to move on.

The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario takes the crown in the logo category, but the logo for sure will not matter when the season begins. From the jump, the new G-League squad will need to proof that they can have better on-court look than their big brother. The logo can only take them so far, but if they do go far in the season, the logo will for sure be the reason, right? Let’s go with that.
