6’7 veteran forward and D-League alum Eric Griffin will play for the Utah Jazz during both Utah and Las Vegas Summer League, a source close to Griffin tells Ridiculous Upside.
Griffin will enter Summer League after having a great overseas stint with Hapoel Galil Giboa of the Israeli Premier League. During his first season with the squad, Griffin put up 15 points, 7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks on 47% from the field in 32 minutes per game. That great play was enough to allow Griffin to be named as an All-Star where he joined the likes of Jeff Adrien, Josh Selby and even former NBA superstar Amar’e Stoudemire.
While he definitely shined in Israel, Griffin’s most well-known for his stint in the D-League during the 2014-15 season with the Texas Legends. Despite entering the NBADL as a relatively unknown player, the 6’9 Griffin utilized the trifecta of his strong 7’1 wingspan, great work ethic and strong athleticism to become one of the best 3-and-D forwards in the entire D-League.
That status was exemplified by him putting up 19 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game on 45% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. Those great numbers pushed Griffin to get a solid amount of accolades which included: the 2015 NBA D-League All-Star, All-Defensive 2nd Team and All D-League 3rd Team.
