College basketball is in full swing, and so are the prospects that will populate the 2019 NBA Draft. With an abundance of action underway, contributor Steve Dewald delivers his prospect-centered viewing schedule for the upcoming week of games.
Instead of focusing on the obvious matchups each week, we are going to deliver a few under-the-radar games worth keeping an eye on. Here are the games that will feature a handful of prospects that could make some serious noise on draft night.
Georgia State vs Kansas State
Date: Saturday, December 15
Time: 8:00 PM (EST)
Viewing Options: ESPN3
Junior guard D’Marcus Simonds is looking to improve his stock by leading a scrappy Georgia State squad. Simonds has the size to hold his own in the NBA, and he has crossed the 20-point threshold in his last three outings. The Wildcats are loaded with talent, which will give Simonds a pristine opportunity to prove himself against NBA-level athletes.
LSU vs Saint Mary’s
Date: Saturday, December 15
Time: 11:00 PM (EST)
Viewing Options: ESPNU
Talented freshmen Naz Reid has had an up-and-down start to the season, but he will get a chance to prove himself against West Coast Conference mainstays Saint Mary’s. Reid is a phenomenal athlete for a big man, but he has to prove he can deliver a consistent effort.
Nebraska vs Oklahoma State
Date: Sunday, December 16
Time: 7:00 PM (EST)
Viewing Options: BTN
Nebraska’s forward duo of Isaiah Roby and James Palmer Jr. rival some of the best tandems in the country. Both upperclassmen are being slightly overlooked, but they could rocket up draft boards in a draft that is lacking late-first round forward prospects. Look for them to keep rolling against a mediocre Oklahoma State squad.
Wake Forest vs Davidson
Date: Monday, December 17
Time: 7:00 PM (EST)
Viewing Options: ESPNU
Wake Forest is off to an un-spectacular start to the season, but freshman forward Jaylen Hoard has been a model of consistency. He has recorded double-digit scoring efforts in all his games, and finished with two double-doubles along the way. As usual, Davidson is fielding a competent squad, which will push the Demon Deacons in this contest.
