Upon releasing the first trailer for NBA 2K19’s MyCAREER mode, 2K Sports revealed that users will now be able to access and play through an actual G League game.
As part of the popular video game’s MyCAREER mode, users have the opportunity to reenact the true of grind of clawing one’s way into the NBA. For so many under the radar prospects, such a process often includes playing in the G League and overseas.
With that in mind, this mode appears more realistic than ever. As fate would have it, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants are prominently featured throughout the first trailer as part of the player’s journey. This is an exciting opportunity for the minor league.
As part of last season’s NBA 2K18 release, users had the ability to sign players to two-way contracts as a means of expanding the roster and were able to assign younger players to the G League so that they could benefit from extra playing time. Actual game play (and G League roster manipulation) was unavailable in this mode however, so it’ll be interesting to see if 2K Sports take things a step further now that the minor league is as vital to the NBA culture as ever.
Will your player end up following in the footsteps of the likes of an Andre Ingram? Check out the trailer above for a closer look at the G League’s involvement in 2K19.
