Recapping Westchester Knicks Week Seven: Knicks Finish Showcase 2-0, Lamar Peters Named To All NBA G League Winter Showcase Team, Split Back-To-Back At Home

In week seven, the Knicks finished the Winter Showcase against Oklahoma City and Lamar Peters was named to the All NBA G League Winter Showcase Team. Westchester split their back-to-back at home.

The Westchester Knicks entered week seven in Las Vegas at the Winter Showcase. Lamar Peters continued to make a great impression with his solid play on the court, which saw him be named to the All NBA G League Winter Showcase Second Team. The Knicks wrapped up the event against the Oklahoma City Blue then returned to the Westchester County Center for a back-to-back against the Windy City Bulls and Erie BayHawks.

The Knicks entered the week with a 6-9 record and won four of their previous six games. Westchester was looking to continue their winning ways during their three-game homestand.

Knicks Finish Winter Showcase With 11-Point Win Over Oklahoma City Blue; Finish 2-0 At Event

Westchester came out in the first quarter with 31 points behind six points by Lamar Peters and Zak Irvin. Peters drained two triples in the first quarter as well. While Oklahoma City rebounded in the second quarter and took the lead after the first half, the Knicks had a stellar second half.

Westchester’s defense was strong in the final two quarters and held the Blue to 38 points. The Knicks outscored their opponents 51-38 in the second half and picked up a 100-89 win. Westchester outscored Oklahoma City in bench points, 56-30, and paint points, 46-40.

Ignas Brazdeikis and J.J. Moore each contributed 21 points for Westchester. Brazdeikis added in six rebounds and three assists, while Moore put up three rebounds and drained four threes. Lamar Peters finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Zak Irvin recorded 14 points and nine rebounds.

With a win over Greensboro in week six and a victory over Oklahoma City, Westchester went 2-0 at the Winter Showcase, which marks the first time the Knicks went undefeated at the event.

Lamar Peters Named To All NBA G League Winter Showcase Second Team

Lamar Peters continued his streak of impressive performances in the Winter Showcase. He continued to make an impact with his passing, drive-and-dish game, outside game, and was grabbing rebounds. Peters averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals on 54.1 percent from the field and 55.5 percent from deep.

By having two solid performances at the event, Peters was named to the All NBA G League Winter Showcase Second Team.

The rookie guard had two impressive performances on the largest stage of the G League season. He was able to showcase many facets of his game with NBA personnel in attendance, which has put him on the call-up watch. 10-day contracts can be signed on January 5.

Westchester Takes Down Windy City Bulls In First Game Following Winter Showcase

The Westchester Knicks controlled the game from the start and held a double digit lead after the first quarter. Ivan Rabb put up eight points in the first 12 minutes, while Tyler Hall added five points and drained a three. The Knicks kept it rolling in the second quarter behind the efficient shooting from Ignas Brazdeikis, who connected on 5-of-7 shots at the half.

When the final buzzer sounded, Westchester picked up a 104-92 win over the Windy City Bulls and improved to 8-9. The Knicks are 6-2 in their last eight games

Ignas Brazdeikis led Westchester with 27 points and seven rebounds on 11-of-16 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep. Andrew White III finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Ivan Rabb notched his sixth double-double (14 points and 15 rebounds) of the season, along with three assists and two blocks. Zak Irvin recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Hall tied a career-high 12 points and three rebounds on 2-of-3 from three. Lamar Peters totaled eight points and 13 assists.

Knicks Fall To Erie BayHawks In Second Game Of Back-To-Back

Even though Erie outscored Westchester in the first quarter, the Knicks fought back in the second quarter to cut their deficit to single digits heading into the third quarter. The BayHawks used their outside game (9-of-24) to maintain control in the first two quarters. Lamar Peters, Tim Bond and J.J. Moore played a role in Westchester making a comeback in the first half.

The Knicks used a 30 point third quarter to make it a one-point game heading into the final 12 minutes. While it was a tight game after three quarters of play, the BayHawks edged out the Knicks in the final quarter to pick up a 121-114 win.

Six Knicks finished in double figures. Lamar Peters led Westchester with 22 points and eight assists. J.J. Moore finished with 18 points, four rebounds, and three steals on 8-of-14 from the field. Tim Bond put up 17 points, four rebounds and two blocks. Ivan Rabb recorded his second straight double-double (15 points and 13 rebounds). Tyler Hall recorded 11 points and four assists. Andrew White III tallied 10 points and six rebounds.
