The trend of top plays continues following the first five plays on the list. From crossovers to powerful blocks to Kadeem Allen coming up strong in the clutch, here are the top five Westchester Knicks plays from the 2018-19 season.
5. Two For One From Billy Garrett And Sekou Wiggs
It’s a two-point game late in the first quarter against the Memphis Hustle. Billy Garrett works off a Stephen Zimmerman screen and Tarik Phillip sticks him, but Garrett hits him with a crossover then drained a mid-range shot. Westchester picked up a win over Memphis and Garrett had an impressive and efficient game. He finished with 20 points and three rebounds while shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from three.
Sekou Wiggs brings the ball up then went right and his defender went down. He stops and drains a three from the top of the key. Wiggs had one of his most impressive performances against the Raptors 905 where he finished with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals on 9-of-16 shooting from the field.
4. Kadeem Allen With The Chase Down Block
Kadeem Allen’s defensive abilities were on display every night, which saw him named to the 2018-19 All-NBA G League Defensive Team. He showed he could lock down the top opposing offensive player and was top 15 in steals per game (1.5) in the G League. The Austin Spurs tried to push it Ben Moore nearly finished with a two-hand slam in transition, but Allen soared in for the chase down block. He finished with 14 points, seven assists, two rebounds, two steals, and one block.
3. What A Rejection By Paul Watson
Paul Watson displayed his high level defensive play and athleticism in his tenure with the Westchester Knicks. He swatted many shots that would be worthy for SportsCenter’s Top 10 list. In a high stakes game of the G League playoffs, Paul Watson trailed Thomas Wilder on his way to the basket and rejected his shot. Watson then stared down his defender after the powerful rejection.
2. Poster Slam By Paul Watson
Paul Watson has thrown down many vicious dunks, but this one was different. Off a drop off from Tyrius Walker, Sekou Wiggs made a quick pass to Watson. He found an opener then drove to the basket and put Todd Withers on a poster. Watson finished with a near double-double (12 points and seven rebounds) in a seven-point road win over the Grand Rapids Drive.
1. Kadeem Allen has the clutch gene
When the game was on the line, Kadeem Allen came up strong in late game situations. He showed multiple times throughout the 2018-19 season where he drained a game winning shot or continued to put the Knicks in a position to win games. Allen hit the game-winning shot against the Grand Rapid Drive. He drove and finished with a clutch basket against the Capital City Go-Go than forced overtime in following meeting. The Knicks guard scored game tying basket against Greensboro Swarm and forced double overtime.
