Isaiah Hicks returned to the New York Knicks on a second two-way contract following his rookie season. Before the start of the season, he competed with the USA Men’s World Cup Qualifying Team in September.
Hicks was limited to 32 combined games in his second season due to injuries (ankle, hamstring, groin and back). He continued to show growth in his game when he was on the court. He improved on his offensive game and had a stretch of games where he drained threes. The Knicks forward connected on 43.3 percent (13-of-30) of his perimeter shots in seven games.
Hicks showed he could be effective down low on the offensive end, while being a solid defender. He was a top-10 shot blocker in the G League and played a role in Westchester being a solid defensive team with his interior defense.
Hicks recorded seven double-doubles during the season, which included one in the postseason against the Lakeland Magic. He is tied for No. 2 in double-doubles (15) and total rebounds (513) in Westchester’s franchise history.
After Westchester’s season came to an end, Hicks joined the Knicks as part of his two-way contract. He played in the final two games of the season. The second-year forward recorded 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks in the season finale against the Detroit Pistons.
