Ridiculous Upside unveils the seeding for their All-Time D/G League Player Tournament

Late last week, we revealed the list of sixty-eight players from the past and present that would be part of our All-Time D/G League player tournament that will be taking place over the next few weeks on our @ridicupside Twitter account. After days of deliberation and deep thought, that field of sixty eight has been broken down into four separate groups: scorers, facilitators, rebounders, and defenders. Although they’ll be separated into different areas, each of them are going to be within the same bracket in the same way that Eastern and Western Conference teams are both in the NBA playoffs.

The actual process behind seeding the players was pretty simple. Due to them being within categories like scoring, rebounding, facilitating, I was able to just at the amount of assists, rebounds, and points they were able to put up while factoring in advanced metrics like True Shooting Percentage and Assist/Turnover ratio.

If two players had essentially identical stats, I’d use accolades like MVP or All-D/G League to place one guy over the other. However, a different path was taken with the defensive section as accolades like defensive player of the year were factored in more heavily than statistics as good on-ball defending don’t always register in blocks and steals.

Following in the footsteps of the NCAA Tournament, these festivities will begin with four play-in games between the two 16th seeds in each section.
