Recapping Westchester Knicks Week 16: Knicks Fall To Top Two Teams In Eastern Conference, Secure Season Sweep Over Greensboro Swarm

In week 16, the Knicks faced off against the Maine Red Claws & Wisconsin Herd and completed the season sweep on the Greensboro Swarm.

The Westchester Knicks entered the week with three home games on the slate. The Knicks were set to take on the top two teams in the Eastern Conference in the Wisconsin Herd and Maine Red Claws. In between those meetings, Westchester faced off against the Greensboro Swarm. The Knicks defeated the Swarm in their previous three meetings and were looking to complete the season sweep.

Westchester Suffers Sixth Straight Loss To Maine Red Claws

While Westchester had the lead after the first quarter, Maine rebounded in the second quarter to take a 53-47 advantage into the second half. Andrew White III recorded 10 points in the first half, while connecting on two triples. The Red Claws kept the pace going in the third quarter by outscoring the home team by 13 points. While three Knicks scored in double figures and the team shot 64 percent in the final frame, Westchester suffered a 116-111 loss to Maine.

Lamar Peters recorded a double-double (24 points and 11 assists), along with two steals on 50 percent shooting from the field. J.J. Moore finished with 21 points on 9-of-14 from the field. Ignas Brazdeikis totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Kadeem Allen (13 points) and Andrew White III (10 points) both scored in double figures.

Knicks Complete Season Sweep On Greensboro Swarm

Westchester came out strong in the first quarter with 39 points led by Ivan Rabb (12) and Ignas Brazdeikis (10), while Rabb pulled down six rebounds and blocked two shots. The Knicks kept their momentum going in the second quarter with 28 points and held a 17-point lead at the half. Brazdeikis and Rabb totaled 30 points in the second half, while Amir Hinton contributed 11 points off the bench. The Knicks walked out with a 129-115 and finished the season 4-0 against Greensboro.

Ignas Brazdeikis led Westchester with 34 points, six rebounds and five assists on 13-of-19 shooting from the field. Ivan Rabb recorded 32 points, 12 rebounds and four steals on 77.7 percent shooting. Lamar Peters totaled 19 points, 19 assists and four steals. Peters’ 19 assists was a franchise record. Zak Irvin finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Amir Hinton (13 points) and J.J. Moore (10 points) each recorded 10-plus points, while Hinton shot 6-of-8 from the field and Moore grabbed eight rebounds.

As a team, Westchester connected on 55.2 percent of their shots and had 39 assists on 53 shots made.

Westchester Falls To Wisconsin Herd In Final Game Of February

Going against the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference, Westchester kept it close in the first half. Wisconsin half a 56-51 lead after two quarters of play. Ivan Rabb continued to show that he is a double-double presence, while having 11 points and seven rebounds at the half. The Herd put up 31 points in the third quarter to take a double-digit lead into the final frame.

Even though the Knicks pulled it within six with 2:39 following a pullup jumper made by Andrew White III, Wisconsin stopped the home team on the following two possessions, including Justin Patton block White III’s three-point shot. A three by Tyler Hall made it a five-point game with less than a minute in the game, but a layup by Frank Mason III push the Herd’s lead to seven points. Westchester fell to Wisconsin, 115-108, in their final game of February.

Ivan Rabb led Westchester with 28 points and 15 rebounds on 11-of-18 shooting from the field.. Andrew White III recorded 21 points and four rebounds. Lamar Peters notched a double-double of 15 points and 12 assists, along with two blocks. Tyler Hall finished with 13 points and three steals on 3-of-5 from deep. Zak Irvin totaled 10 points and six rebounds.
