After three years at Mississippi State, Lamar Peters went undrafted then signed with the New York Knicks. He competed with the team in Summer League and joined Westchester as an affiliate player.

Peters started off the season by scoring in double digits in 12 of his first 13 games of the season, while recording his first double-double (20 points and 11 assists) in his second game. He finished the season with three double-doubles against the Maine Red Claws, Greensboro Swarm, and Wisconsin Herd.

Peters showed he could be a pest on the defensive end and had a nice step-back jumper. He showed he could be the main facilitator on the team and had an efficient perimeter shot. The rookie guard had eight games of 10 or more assists and 10 game of five or more threes made. Peters had a strong season and was in consideration for an NBA call-up this season. He should be a candidate for an NBA roster spot; whether that be part of a 15-man roster or as a two-way player.

Lamar Peters put up some impressive stats in his rookie season. His 10 perimeter shots made and 19 assists were franchise records. His 116 three-point shots made were the most outside shots made in a single season. Peters’ 230 assists are fourth most in a season and fifth most in the franchise.
