Luke Schenscher Needs Your Help!

Luke Schenscher Hair
"I'm getting rid of the PONY TAIL!!! C'mon all you Perth Wildcats Fans....and basketball fans in general. Get behind me! For those of you who have told me to "get a hair cut" put your money where your mouth is! I'm taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave 2010. Please sponsor me and donate what you can, every dollar makes a difference. The funds we raise will help the Leukaemia Foundation to provide practical care and support to patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders." -- Luke Schenscher

Since I can't afford to donate, I'm hoping to get the word out to more people by getting Schenscher's story out to my meager readership and providing this link to donate to the foundation.

I've never done a great job of hiding my love for Luke Schenscher (see here and here), who hasn't played in the D-League since 2007, but this is the most worthy reason of mentioning him I've ever had.

Also, as an update on the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket/ Chicago Bull/ Portland Trailblazer/Fort Worth Flyer, he's currently playing for the Perth Wildcats over in his native Australia and averaging 10.7 points and 6.7 boards in 23 minutes per game. Fun fact: He's also attempted six 3-pointers. Not so fun fact: He's only made one of them.

Luuuuuuuuke.

When are we going to get the Schenscher vs Neville matchup?

Well

It’s playoff time in Australia. If Schensch is healthy, maybe he’ll come over to the D-League when his season over (in my dreams)…

Luke S. - the back story

Scotty, While I am sure you know the most critical of Luke Schenscher facts and trivia, what you may not know is why he is not currently playing in the DLeague.

It all starts with the fact that he welched on his commitment to play college ball at Boise State. Yes, before big Luke was taken in by the land of Waffle House he was signed, sealed and delivered to be a Bronco – back in the day before Fiesta Bowls and before PF Changs.

It was devastating to the BSU program, particularly since they already had Mr. Outside in Roberto Bergersen. Instead of pushing forward as a rising basketball power the Broncos ended up firing their coach and slumped back to mediocre. Instead Boise reinvested in their football program and now nobody even knows that Boise State even plays basketball.

With Stampede ownership’s infatuation of all things Bronco – is there ANY doubt that if Luke would have held to his original commitment that he would not be a member of the Stampede today?

None the less, best of luck to him on the fundraising efforts.

Ha

I had a different theory, but yours may be more right:
Schensch was originally going to play for the Lakers in Vegas this Summer, but he didn’t. This saddened to no end.
Being the Schenscher fan (and reporter) that I am, I went to the Lakers Summer League coach, Chucky Brown, and asked him what the hell happened. Chucky basically said he wasn’t good enough in the practices leading up to Vegas, and thus, they sent him home.

Slight correction...

…my pal Buster Bronco informs me that Bergersen had graduated from Boise State just before the recruitment of Schenscher. That time line would have matched with the Jason Ellis years.

Jason Ellis – just another Bronco the Stamps would probably resign as soon as J gets tried of Belgium waffles.

Again, if Luke would have stayed with his original commitment there is no doubt in my mind that the ponytail would be flowing in Coach Mac’s offense…

Speaking of red heads (and ex-Broncos) – Coby Karl is back in the fold.
