NBA Summer League Rosters - Vegas

With the NBA Summer League(s) right around the corner, and Ridiculous Upside's draft coverage sufficiently wrapped up with this brilliant draft grade article from TAFKAMichaelBourn, I figured this morning would be the perfect time to begin our month(ish) long coverage of the NBA Summer League with rosters! (Orlando Pro Summer League rosters can be found here)

First, though, I highly suggest you go here and drop a measly $10.95 (Early bird special!) to have access to all of the Summer League games - both live and on demand - starting with Evan Turner versus Derrick Favors in Orlando on July 5th.  I'll be in Vegas for the entire Summer League (which features quite a few intriguing match-ups as well - John Wall vs ANYONE!) and I'm still planning on spending that money just to be able to catch the Orlando games (and for the  archived footage).

I plan on updating this as often as possible, so please bookmark this instead of looking at it today and assuming it'll never be updated.

wow, some loaded rosters there! didn’t expect to see Thornton and Collison for the Hornets there. the Raptors and Clippers should provide entertaining games too. and i’m really excited to see my Bulls play there. Bouldin and Samuels seem like solid players, i hope at least one of them will make the team.

team that will most likely get their ass kicked: Knicks…?

For SA, the link you have as a source says:

Mike Budenholzer, the lead assistant on the Spurs’ bench, will coach the squad.

Good stuff Scott. Always love to see guys like Antwayne Robinson and JayCee Carroll get some pub. Still convinced I could assemble a championship team with just 2nd rounders and UFAs. Give me 4 years and I’d get a winner.

Don't pretend you love Antywane now

NBA finished the early bird pricing last night. It’s $14.95 now. Someone on PTR just told me.

by BlaseE on Jun 28, 2010 11:43 AM EDT reply actions

Rod Benson and Trey Johnson. Look out. Really can’t wait to see the D-League’s Marcus Camby play alongside Deandre Jordan. I’m hoping that Benson, Johnson, and Blakey all make it to Clipper training camp. Seeing that the Clippers only have 8 players on the roster including their three rookies, why freaking not….

Is there any chance

of seeing Pekovic or Bjelica in summer league? Any other of our eurostashes playing?

by NuthinBurger on Jun 28, 2010 3:19 PM EDT reply actions

I believe Bjelica has one year left on contract with Barcelona, who has him loaned to Crvena Zvezda Beograd. Pekovic has one year left on a three-year deal with Panathinaikos. Both would be doubtful for summer league, since their current contract owners would have to give permission.

Honor is no substitute for victory.

Knicks

what are they doing? i love adding charles garcia but i think they should’ve invited more players, especially pg’s (torrance, randle) considering they will have to fill the roster with cheap contracts

by JohnnyCakes on Jun 28, 2010 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

That roster isn't complete

Just the players I know of thus far.
They missed out on the top undrafted free agent point guards, but there are plenty of veterans looking for a team.

by Scott Schroeder on Jun 28, 2010 6:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Unless I missed it...

and he’s already signed somewhere, but I’d love to see Curtis Stinson get some run on NYs Vegas squad. Also, to a lesser degree, Cedric Jackson and Blake Ahearn.

by Surujh Operator on Jun 29, 2010 2:50 AM EDT up reply actions

Stinson’s signed for both leagues, I hear, but I haven’tbeen able to confirm as much.
Jackson’s up in the air, but he was at a Knicks mini-camp not long ago so there is a chance.
Blake’s with the Rockets – good spot for him.

I write about basketball players with Ridiculous Upside. I know you'll love it.

by Scott Schroeder on Jun 29, 2010 4:58 AM EDT up reply actions

Ok

I really hope Stinson gets a real shot with an NBA club this season….either in camp or as a mid-season signing. He’s done practically everything you could ask of a point guard at the D-League level. I know he’s maybe viewed as a little hot-headed and isn’t an Ahearn-esque shooter, but he is a tremendous ball handler, has excellent size for the position, rebounds like it’s nobody’s busines, etc… There has to be a spot on someone’s roster to carry him as a second or third guard. After Miami, NJ, NY and Chicago are left with skeletons of a roster, guys like Stinson will give you consistent effort and have talent.

by Surujh Operator on Jun 29, 2010 7:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Lots of Mountaineers!

Good to see some WVU players on these lists. I was happy to see Ruoff on the list. I see that you added Alexander to the list for the Bulls (I was starting to wonder about him). I hope Ebanks proves himself (I’m still not sure about him leaving after sophomore year). Can’t wait to watch them play (especially Gansey). I also was happy to see some Erie Bayhawks on the teams (Sweetney and Bryant). I was hoping that more of them would be on a team. Any news on Cedric Jackson or Blake Ahearn?

by WVUFan20 on Jun 28, 2010 6:47 PM EDT reply actions

Blake's up there with the Rockets

Haven’t heard on Cedric Jackson, though. I assumed Washington, but he wasn’t mentioned. Maybe Cleveland?

Jackson playing for the Wizaards makes sense (after he finished there). That is quite a summer league team. I wouldn’t want to play them.

I'm a little surprised

there aren’t more Vipers on the Houston team.

Probably will be

But I talked to Will Conroy and he said he’s not playing this Summer so that eliminates one of them.

by Scott Schroeder on Jun 28, 2010 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions

possibly they know it will be tough to get onto the Rockets roster unless there is a sign and trade so maybe they want to try to work out with other teams. At this point the Rockets know exactly who they are and what they can do.

Scott, I will see you in Vegas, though I will only be there from Tuesday to Saturday.

by Hayesfan on Jun 28, 2010 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions

The Rockets team is pretty stacked with second year players and Patterson, how do you guys think they are compared to the other teams compiled so far?

by Dream94 on Jun 28, 2010 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

It's pretty good.

As of right now I personally think Chicago’s team is stacked, particularly at the guard positions. Denver fielded a pretty strong team last year, so I’m interested to see who else they’re bringing in this year. Jeremy Wise could potentially be a great pickup for Golden State to replace C.J. Watson, depending on how much of a chance he gets in Summer League.

No Yaroslav Korolev

What. Even Ndudi Ebi got an invite in Orlando…

Plus, why would any young pg want to play for the Wizards team. i guess they all want to pick up some tips from John Wall…

by teddygreen on Jun 28, 2010 11:22 PM EDT reply actions

The Wizards need depth

Right now they have Wall, Arenas and Hinrich under contract; they’re going to let Foye go, and Livingston is reportedly looking elsewhere. They need at least one more guard, and since Hinrich will play the two-guard spot and they’re going to try and move Arenas over as well, point guard is the most logical place to look.
