NBA Mock Draft: Washington Wizards Select Otto Porter From Georgetown

New, 8 comments

SB Nation's NBA Network conducted a mock draft with bloggers from each team site making or trading their "team's" pick. We continue with the third pick in the 2013 NBA Mock Draft with Bullets Forever selecting Georgetown forward Otto Porter.

NBA Mock Draft Pick #3 -- Otto Porter, Forward, Georgetown

SB Nation's Wizards blog Bullets Forever explains the pick:

The Wizards will take Otto Porter Jr. at No. 3 overall. There's a BF holy war going on arguing the merits of Porter vs. UNLV forward Anthony Bennett, but to me, this is an obvious choice. Bennett may be the superior isolation scorer and rebounder, but Porter has him lapped in every other category. He's a tremendous perimeter shooter, an beautiful passer for his position, an excellent cutter that will thrive in the misdirection/spacing era of the NBA and one of the best help defenders I've ever seen at the college level. Everything that matters for winning, Porter contributes. Better yet, he just turns 20 the month of the draft and has much less in-game experience than several of his peers because he did not play much AAU ball. He has far more upside than people realize and plenty of physical growth left to add weight to his frame.

The chance to pair his talents with the scoring ability of John Wall and Bradley Beal is too much to pass up. After missing on Kawhi Leonard two years ago, the Wizards can finally get a Kawhi Leonard of their own.
