NBA Mock Draft Pick #6 -- Trey Burke, Guard, Michigan
SB Nation's Pelicans blog At The Hive explains the pick:
The Pelicans take Trey Burke with the #6 pick. Greivis Vasquez had a great offensive season in his first year starting, but New Orleans is far from good enough at this stage to draft for need rather than top talent. Between his multiple end of season Player of the Year awards, NCAA leading pure point ratio, and dominant statistical line, Burke likely represents the best player available at the spot. Two extra factors working against Vasquez are the Pelicans' timeline for contention -- likely two or three years down the road -- versus his age, and his frankly horrendous, upright defense. Burke's ceiling is far higher offensively, and his collegiate proficiency in the pick and roll projects to mesh nicely with Anthony Davis' skills.
