After competing with the New York Knicks in Summer League last year, Paul Watson felt a return to the Westchester Knicks was the best opportunity for him to try get to the next level. Watson showed he could be the defensive anchor on a team and could shut down the opposing team’s best offensive player.

Following the Knicks’ postseason game, head coach Mike Miller stated that the team continued to switch Watson back and forth on Windy City’s best player. His length and versatility made him a valuable defensive player that greatly contributed on two teams that made the postseason.

Throughout the season, the second-year forward used his athleticism to put up some plays that could be featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10. He had a powerful rejection against Windy City and finished with a strong dunk on Todd Withers. Both of those plays were ranked in the top five plays of the season.

Along with what Watson showcased on the defensive end, he showed he could be an effective player on the offensive end without needing the ball in his hands. He closed out the regular season by being a more efficient perimeter shooter. Watson shot 29.8 percent from three in January and shot better than 40 percent— 45.5 percent in nine games in February and 40.7 percent in seven games in March— in the final two months.
