NBA Mock Draft Pick #3 - R.J. Barrett, Guard, Duke

SB Nation’s Cleveland Cavaliers blog Fear The Sword explains the pick:

With the third pick, the Cavs take RJ Barrett from Duke. While we would have liked to add two young pieces in this draft, getting Barrett is an opportunity we can’t pass up. This is franchise trying to build a new version of itself and Barrett is a chance for the franchise to get a star player to build around moving forward. We love his upside as a defender, his potential as a leader scorer and think he’ll only be maximized by playing for John Beilein and in an offense that will empower him to succeed. We like heading into next season with a potential starting five of Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman, R.J. Barrett, Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr.

These are the terms of the trade in our Blogger Mock Draft between the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New Orleans Pelicans:

Knicks receive: Anthony Davis

Cavaliers receive: 3rd Pick

Pelicans receive: 5th Pick, 26th Pick, Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith Jr., 2021 Dallas 1st (unprotected), 2023 Dallas 1st (1-10 protected).
