Kadeem Allen entered his second season as a two-way player with the New York Knicks. He signed a two-year, two-way contract on January 14, 2019. The Knicks guard started off his season in Westchester and spent time with New York. He missed the first three games of the G League season due to a right knee sprain and made his season debut on November 18 against the Grand Rapids Drive.
Allen totaled 14 points and eight assists on 50 percent shooting against the Drive then followed that up with 22 points and three blocks two games later. He scored 20-plus points in seven games, while putting up four of those performances from February 4 to February 21.
Allen recorded 24 points on February 4 against the Iowa Wolves and came up in the clutch by scoring the final seven points. He drove to the basket and finished off glass for the score, which gave Westchester a one-point lead and pushed the team to a 126-123 victory.
The third-year guard dished at least eight assists in six games with Westchester. He finished the season as the franchise’s all-time leader in assists with 388 dimes (including postseason).
Allen made an impact in Westchester with his defense and play making. He showed he could find the open shooter and find his teammates in great spots to score. The Knicks guard showed good energy on defense and hustled back to swat shots in transition.
Allen played in 10 games with New York as part of his two-way contract. He made his season debut on December 2 against the Milwaukee Bucks. In his third game with the Knicks, the third-year guard recorded nine points and six assists. Allen averaged 5.0 points and 2.1 assists in 11.7 minutes per game with New York.
