Recap: Fort Wayne Mad Ants 115, Springfield Armor 86

Sean Sonderleiter has been balling in March.

Scott was busy watching some basketball tournament yesterday, I think it's called the Masters?  Anyway, to prove I'm not a deadbeat, I'm handling recaps today.  And, because of all of these "other" games...I think they were in the ABA...the D-League put up just one contest.  I use the term "contest" loosely, because it was an Armor game, and they were down by 29 points at halftime.  Nevertheless, let's see what happened.

  • To put it simply, the Armor just doesn't have enough offense with JamesOn Curry out.  Justin Hawkins had 19 points, Abdulai Jalloh had 14 off the bench and Marcus Campbell chipped in 10, and those are the only Armor players in double figures.  Shooting 27 percent from three will do that.  I'm sure Dee Brown is glad they got rid of Morris Almond (that sounds like sarcasm, but it's probably true, which makes it a joke on Brown.  I think).
  • The Mad Ants, on the other hand, were lighting it up from outside, making more than half their threes.  Ryan Ayers was 4-5, Rod Wilmont was 4-8 and DeWitt Scott has been on fire since coming back to Fort Wayne, shooting 3-5 last night and 9-13 from outside over the last two games.
  • Sean Sonderleiter came through with a solid double-double, 18 points and 12 rebounds, along with five assists.  He's been playing really well in March, and doing it against decent competition.
  • I'm also going to attribute this Fort Wayne win to Dan Dickau being out.  That probably isn't the case, I just don't really like Dickau.  Deal with it, America.

Heeeey, it's Adam Harrington...

What I don’t get is how Springfield could come back from a 17 point defecit Tuesday to win, and then clearly not have any offense going for them in a game like this… I mean McAlarney only had 7 points where he had 21 Tuesday…?? I guess we’ll be resorting to the “maybe next year…”

McAlarney has been inconsistent all year.

He needs to to a better job of getting to the free throw line if he wants to score consistently.

Ridiculous Upside, where developing talent and winning are not mutually exclusive.
