Five More Prospects Set to Enter 2013 NBA D-League Draft

With the 2013 NBA D-League Draft just weeks away, here are the names of five other intriguing young guns set to enter this year's pool.

Last season, some of the NBA D-League's most talented and exciting players came into the spotlight after being plucked from the 2012 NBADL Draft pool. With just weeks remaining until the 2013 NBADL Draft, a new plethora of intriguing prospects are signing contracts, entering the draft pool, and making sure they're eligible to be selected.

They can only hope to duplicate the success the likes of Glen Rice Jr., Andrew Goudelock, Tim Ohlbrecht, and Toure Murry ( and not to mention, many others) had last season. The list certainly goes on.

Previously, we've mentioned that both Dami Sapara and Ahmad Aasiya-Bey will be draft eligible. Sapara has the potential to be one of the most athletic players in all of the D-League on both ends of the floor, a la a more polished and controlled Dominique Sutton. This past offseason, Sapara worked out for NBA teams like the Nets and Knicks, and has also turned up at a handful of NBADL tryouts as well.

Aasiya-Bey, on the other hand, first turned heads at the league's national tryout in New York City this past June. Quite the floor general, the guard has steady court vision, but can also run and gun while exploding towards the hoop for easy buckets.

In addition to those two promising prospects, RidiculousUpside.com has learned the names of five others looking to make their mark in the D-League this coming fall.

Kyle Hunt, Orion Outerbridge, Jamine Peterson, Akeem Ellis, and Derick Beltran will all enter this year's draft. As it just so happens, a good number of these guys aren't strangers to the D-League circuit by any means.

Perhaps in a league of his own, Kyle Hunt has a Kevin Durant-like skill set and impressed this offseason in workouts with the Nets, Pacers, and Knicks. Like Sapara, Hunt too has spent some time attending minor league tryouts as well.

Often compared to Wilson Chandler, Outerbridge may be a bit more raw than the rest, but his versatile talent is still evident. Like Aasiya-Bey, the forward impressed at the league's national tryout in June. In addition, Outerbridge also strutted his stuff at a workout attended by representatives from up to nine NBA teams earlier this summer.

Any NBA D-League staffer and/or fan alike should remember Peterson. Already a minor league veteran (having played in parts of two seasons from 2010-2012), the explosive forward is perhaps best known for his standout 45 point performance during the 2010-11 season. Most recently, he's been playing overseas.

Ellis is arguably the most intriguing of the bunch as a true up and comer. Though he stands tall and can compete with most small forwards, Ellis' skill set is that of a combo guard. In addition to having spent training camp with the Bakersfield Jam last year, the Coppin State alumni has continued to turn heads in a number of D-League tryouts over the past month.

Beltran is a relative newcomer to the staff here at RidiculousUpside.com, but it's easy to like what we've seen early on. Coming off a 16 point per game season at Southern University, there's no doubt the guard can pour in the points, and do it while competing at a high level.
