On St. Patrick's Day, our thirteenth podcast of the season here at RidiculousUpside.com proved to be quite the lucky one.
Returning from a small two-week hiatus myself (Keith Schlosser) and Dakota Schmidt welcomed a season-high three guests to the RU Podcast on a special 90 minute edition of our show.
Headlining the trio was none other than Santa Cruz Warriors' NBADL All-Star guard Seth Curry, who actually represents the player we've welcomed on the podcast. From a pre-recorded interview straight from the Bay Area, the brother of Stephen helped us kick things off by discussing his life as a D-League athlete, what it's like to play for the Warriors, and his continued grind to make it back to The Association.
Following the Curry interview was Ryan Blake, who serves as Senior Director of NBA Scouting Operations and can be seen each and every day through a plethora of YouTube clips featured on NBADLeague.com. Blake elaborated on his relationship with the minor league, previewed the upcoming Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, and helped us highlight some of the D-League top stories from this season.
Helping us close out the show was Sam Amico of Fox Sports & Fox Sports Ohio. A nationally known NBA writer whose content centers around the Cavaliers, Amico often takes a special interest in D-League basketball and also aims to provide fans with an update on what some of their forgotten past NBA and collegiate studs are up to as of late. The writer discusses all that and more, including a recent trip to Canton to watch the affiliated Charge play ball.
As always, myself and Dakota dive in and highlight some of the hottest topics across the D-League as of late, including the Knicks' new minor league franchise, and the purpose and/or motivation behind signing certain prospects to 10-day contracts.
