Delaware Blue Coats Hire Coby Karl

After a great playoff run by the Bluecoats last season in which they almost won the championship, they have hired former South Bay Lakers Head Coach Coby Karl. Coby Karl has a wealth of experience under his belt, playing for three NBA teams (Lakers, Cavaliers, Warriors). During his time in the NBA, he averaged 2.4 points a game in 7.6 minutes. He even played in a playoff game in 2008, suiting up for the Lakers and getting one assist in 2 minutes.

After retiring from the game of basketball, he became the assistant coach for the Westchester Knicks. He helped the team gain a 28-22 record during the 2015 campaign in the G-League. It was a significant improvement from 2014's record of 10-40.

The South Bay Lakers (at the time D-Fenders) offered him a job in 2016 allowing him to get his first head coaching job for a basketball team. Coby ended up coaching the Lakers for 4 years, having a combined record of 86-70. Also during that time, he has helped develop future NBA players like Alex Caruso and Andre Ingram.

It is unknown at this time where the former Delaware head coach Connor Johnson went. Connor Johnson held a combined record of 53-55 in 3 seasons and also led the Blue Coats to the G-League championship in the last season.
