Or at least his defensive game. After watching one of his two games, I've got to agree he's rather raw. From the notes: Bobcats 7-footer Alexis Ajinca still isn't strong enough to hold position in the post defensively without fouling. In two games, Ajinca has committed 10 fouls in 41 minutes. "He says, ‘Bad calls,'" Brown said, with a chuckle. "Now he's in the D-League, figuring out he has the same shortcomings there, in terms of physicality."
Leave your thoughts here... I'll be leaving my comments on the Fort Wayne commentating!
Slam Online takes a good look at Will Conroy of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds. They've also got three other potential call-ups in the article - Trey Johnson, Blake Ahearn, and Eddie Gill. Slam - I commend you! Much better than what NBATV trotted out in their D-League prospects list.
If you're itching for some basketball, check out our live blog tonight from the 66ers game. You can also watch the game live on futurecast, or if you're in the Tulsa area, head on over to the Spirit Bank Event Center and check them out. They got a rare win yesterday in an afternoon overtime game that saw Shaun Livingston dish out 11 assists in his 3rd game with the team. Who needs the Big 12 tournament when you have great D-League action going on just up the street, or a mouse click away?
The newest Twitterer, Alex Del Barrio, affectionately known as the Notorious ADB, is live blogging this game over on his site since there are technical difficulties with the webcast.
This is crazy. As you know, we follow all things D-League. Today, I noticed this feature on NBA.com where the D-League interviews Jim Hlavac from DraftExpress. Jim seems to be a smart guy, but this show just doesn't showcase possible call-ups. Hlavac references his call-up rankings, linked above, which has Chris Richard, whose been out for the season for quite awhile at number 8. Players discussed? James White (just signed his second 10-day with Houston), Keith Clark (draft eligible, won't be called up), Trey Gilder (draft eligible, won't be called up), Sun Yue (Lakers, yet have a graphic that says "possible D-League call-up"), Cheik Samb (Knicks, hasn't been signed to the D-League this season), and Demetris Nichols (Currently on a 10-day with the Knicks). Rick Kamla, call me up. I'll help you out with call-up rankings.
"Idaho managing investor Bill Ilett, whose team leads the West Division, would favor picking a playoff team from his division (i.e., saving money). Good for him. Coach Bryan Gates wants to pick marbles out of a hat. And he wants to put the event on a Web cam so everyone knows what he's doing (i.e., not providing motivation for the ugly kid). Good for him. Bad for the league." The first bad thing I've seen about the new playoff format in something other than RU.
White hasn't played in a game yet. "Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey confirmed McCandless' information in a text message to FOX 26. Morey said Tuesday the club was impressed with White and thought he would be with the team for the forseeable future." Good news for the D-League. Bad news for the Anaheim Arsenal.
Alex Del Barrio of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers has a live blog going over on his site. Strongly suggest you check it out. Highlight thus far: "Did I say 12-4 run? I meant 20-4 run. No offense...We've been scoring at will lately. Just not tonight. Colorado is not good defensively we just cannot make shots. RGV is 11/38 from the field. Math majors that's 28.9 %. Last time a team won shooting under 30% from the field. They were still shooting at peach baskets with no holes on the bottom."
Ladies and Gentleman, Just wanted to give you all a heads up to head on over to blogging the bracket. It's the newest SB Nation site covering college basketball. Head on over and cheer on the home team, North Dakota State. Also, just found a free betting site that I put 10 cents down on NDSU to cover. Check it out. You'll never have to deposit, and thus, probably never get rich. However, it'll give me another reason to care about the Princeton-Penn game. I'll endorse it!
