The NBA Development League Has A New Basketball Design
Above is the NBA Development League's new basketball design, courtesy of Utah Flash team president Drew Sellers (via Twitter).
I don't know why it's been changed - I didn't even know they were planning a change - and therefore I'm not quite ready to know what to think about it (I hate change).
Instead, I'll open it up to the three regular readers of Ridiculous Upside ... so, what do you think?

I didn’t vote.
Since I haven’t commented on here in like 6 months (so it seems) I figure I’ll just leave a comment about the basketball instead of just using y’all (RU) for invaluable and life-changing info, kay? ; )
I think it looks fine. It’s a just a basketball design. It’s not like changing the design will make the ball go farther, faster, more directly into the hoop or anything. It looks just fine. Change is good. You do change your clothes on a daily basis, right? Well, there you go. See, change is good, in fact, sometimes it’s downright necessary.

Oh Rumble
Remember when that one ball was a bad ball, though? When all of the players hated it? Sometimes balls are more complex than one might imagine.

But wasn't that a change in the material used...
and not the look of it (are the lines the only changes)? I can see how that would have a much larger impact than the placement of the black lines.
That said, I voted for the 6 times in 6 years part, because that certainly seems like what’s happened.

It was all different
But material was the biggest difference, yes.

exactly.
a ball is a ball. That is sort of what I was trying to say in my above comment as well, but now that I reread my comment, I realize that I failed miserably and my comment actually makes little sense and if it makes little sense to me, well, then I’m sure it makes absolutely no sense to the rest of you.
So yeah, scratch that and we’ll just go with yours — A ball is a ball. The change is no biggie. Just roll with it.
Oh, and now with this comment, we are up to 5 in this thread alone. Do all of us that commented here get cookies or something equally as neat?

I just made it over TEN comments!
So yes, cookies for all.

Does this mean you're going to change the RU logo?
I can distinctly see that the ball the “Red/Yellow/Orange” player is holding is not the official ball.
The only people who really know where [the edge] is are the ones who have gone over it.

Um...
…there’s not enough panels, so the channels will be awkwardly spaced. Then again, with the average basketball player presumably having larger than average hands, perhaps the channel spacing will be superior.

Oops...
never mind, optical illusion.

The illusion
Not sure if it’s okay to have a ball with no channels on an equator.

Yeah
Think it’s tough to judge this one until I can actually physically play with it.
