Questions About Joe Alexander
Hey Scott,
I was looking at the numbers that Joe Alexander is putting up in the D-League. I realize that the talent is not at the NBA level but what do you feel about Joe Alexander being called up to a team like the suns. He is undersized from the PF position but the suns like athletic undersized big men that can run the floor. Do you think he will get another shot at the NBA, and if so would he excel with the suns.
Thanks,
Spencer

Hey Spencer,
Actually trying to see if I can’t squeeze a quick phone interview out of Joe prior to his playoff series. Either way, I’ll be writing about him on the front page soon and be sure to hit on your questions.

Spencer,
Joe has really been playing very well this season in the D-League and especially the last couple weeks. He has arguably been the best player in the D-League the last month or so. The main thing with Joe this season is that he is finally healthy and playing basketball. His first two years with the Milwaukee Bucks/Chicago Bulls he was never healthy and that really hurt his development as a player and being able to show what he could do.
I totally agree with you that Joe is more comfortable playing the 4 rather than the 3. I think when he first came into the NBA everyone said he had to play the 3 and really struggled. Because Joe is considered undersized at the 4 position in the NBA, I think he is athletic enough to play the 4 and can stretch guys out enough on the offensive end that a system like Phoenix, New York, Golden State would benefit him more.
I am really surprised an NBA team hasn’t called-up him up this season yet. But now finally being able to stay healthy and show why he was the 8th pick in the 2008 Draft it would not surprise me if the Suns or another team take a look at him this last week of the season or into the summer.

I think Joe's season may have more to do with who he has around him than ahything Joe did himself.
I mean, he has Booker Woodfox out there on the perimeter. Would you leave a guy named Booker Woodfox open? Didn’t think so. Thus, Joe has plenty of room in the paint to get to the rim and throw it down. Bring them both up.
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Wasn't really going for cute.
I was just making sure the message got to the right person and not some random person that feels like they know the game.

If you’re referring to Mike Gansey, he definitely knows the game. In fact, I guess he’s played a bit of basketball himself.

Was not referring to Mike!!
These are the comments I have had to deal with over the the Suns blog. So I appreciated both you and Mike’s post!
