Jeremy Lin & Houston Rockets To Hold Training Camp In Rio Grande Valley

Will national phenomenon Jeremy Lin be revisiting his D-League roots next season?

Not quite, but the guard, who rose to fame fresh out of the minors, will still lead his new NBA team (the Houston Rockets) into Rio Grande Valley next month.

The Vipers announced that they will be hosting their NBA affiliate for training camp and even a preseason matchup against the Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Find out more after the jump.

Hoping to provide fans with that D-League friendly type access to an NBA team, Rio Grande Valley will be the host of an array of great Rockets-oriented events during the first week of October. These include a couple of autograph sessions, an open practice, and even a VIP Reception & Casino Night hosted by the Vipers' owners at their own home. Take a look below for more details via RGV:

Aside from NBA training camp, Rockets players and coaches will make several public appearances to meet with their local fans. The team’s first appearance will be at a Casino Night VIP Reception Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., held at the home of Vipers owners Alonzo and Yoli Cantu. Rockets coaches, players and front office personnel will be in attendance and serving as blackjack dealers for this VIP event. Tickets to the reception are $200 and may be purchased by calling the Vipers front office.

On Friday, Oct. 5, Rockets Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons will visit Vipers Title Sponsor Lone Star National Bank, located at 520 East Nolana, McAllen, for an autograph signing from 2-3 p.m. The autograph signing is free and open to the public. That afternoon, Rockets players will also make an appearance at the Children’s Center at Renaissance to meet and sign autographs for pediatric patients.
