NBA Mock Draft Pick #20 — Kevin Huerter, Guard, Maryland
SB Nation’s Minnesota Timberwolves blog Canis Hoopus explains the pick:
There were multiple interesting prospects for the Wolves to consider at this spot, but ultimately we were won over by Kevin Huerter of the University of Maryland. Though still young, Huerter flashed an impressive array of skills at the college level, then really impressed us with his athleticism at the draft combine. Of course wing depth and three point shooting are areas of need for the Wolves, but regardless, we thought Huerter was the best player on the board. He has excellent touch from range, showed off good decision-making and passing skills from the wing, and we are intrigued by his defensive potential as well. We have high hopes that he can develop into a quality two-way wing player, among the most valuable player types in today’s NBA. Overall, we felt his combination of shooting, quick feet, and on- and off-ball skills made him the choice here over several other prospects.
