NBA Mock Draft Pick #21 — Chandler Hutchison, Forward, Boise State
SB Nation’s Utah Jazz blog SLC Dunk explains the pick:
The Utah Jazz were unable to get Kyle Kuzma last year as he was drafted just one spot prior by the Lakers. The Utah Jazz will make their mea culpa and get this year’s Kyle Kuzma in Chandler Hutchison. The Boise State product and Mountain West player of the year may be a four-year player, but he’s improved every single year he’s been at Boise State. The Utah Jazz take that carefully into consideration. Some may remember when Chandler Hutchison and Kyle Kuzma went point for point a couple years ago with Hutchison getting the better of Kuzma. Hutchison shot 35% from three and would excel in Quin Snyder’s advantage basketball as a three or small ball four. His scoring ability would be a welcome addition to a Utah Jazz squad that was looking for a punch off the bench. Hutchison averaged 19.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1 steal per game. More importantly he got to the tin and got to the line. He fits with the Utah Jazz’s average age of their core and could learn to spell Joe Ingles in the years ahead as Joe Ingles starts to slow down.
