NBA Mock Draft Pick #25 — Aaron Holiday, Guard, UCLA
SB Nation’s Los Angeles Lakers blog Silver Screen and Roll explains the pick:
You could have made the argument for a few players at this spot, like Jacob Evans, whose defensive versatility and shooting would have made him a great fit on this Lakers squad, but I decided to take the best player available and in my opinion, that was Aaron Holiday. After drafting Lonzo Ball in last year’s draft, the Lakers finally have a long-term answer at the point guard position. However, they have little depth behind Ball, which was a weakness for this team last season. Who better to backup Ball than his former UCLA teammate? Though a tad undersized, standing at 6-foot-1, Holiday makes up for it with his long 6-foot-7 wingspan. The 21-year-old will have to put those natural physical tools to use at the next level to reach his ceiling, but his floor is already pretty high if the scoring versatility he showed in his junior season with the Bruins translates.
