No more D-League for James "Flight" White
"I would probably go overseas,'' said White, a forward who averaged 25.9 points last season for the Anaheim Arsenal. "I'm not going back to the D-League. It's more financially. It's a not a good thing (financially). If I haven't proven myself from the D-League and (an NBA) team doesn't like me from being in the D-League last year, I don't think I can improve my status from the D-League. I played great last year in the D-League, and did all I can do. My best bet is to go overseas.''
Didn't last year prove to him that if he's on the cusp of the D-League to keep going hard and get the call-up? Methinks the "Flight White, now with less attitude" of yesteryear was a bit flukey.

No More D-League for James "Flight" White
The D-League needs to address the financial issue. Some of these guys have families. The bottom line is you cannot survive on what they pay. The Euro and Asian leagues are all starting up now and most of the top tier D-League guys from last year are already gone for the better pay. I think the carrot that the D-League uses (the myth of a chance of a call up) is wearing thin on the guys that have been around the D-League waiting for their chance. With the economics of the NBA, carrying smaller rosters, cutting back expenses, etc., the smart players and agents knew that going for the money was the best strategy this year.

Maybe he realized he isn't/teams don't see in him more than a fringe NBA player
Houston seemed to invest in him, but then they turned around and traded him to the Nuggs. To provide for his future, it might be the best to continue his career elsewhere in the world where he can play a more significant role on a good team.
