New Jersey Nets Draft Derrick Favors With 3rd Pick In SB Nation NBA Mock Draft

New, 7 comments

The 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft is still underway, with each SB Nation blogger making selections for their respective teams. Kid Chocolate, community member at SB Nation's New Jersey Nets blog NetsDaily, has been nominated to make the third overall selection in this year's mock.

With the third overall pick in the 2010 SB Nation NBA Mock Draft, the New Jersey Nets have selected Derrick Favors, PF, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Kid Chocolate explains: What is this? We had the worst record this year and almost set the record for worst in the history of the NBA. Surely, we want John Wall. Surely, we deserve John Wall.

Oh wait, we got the 3rd pick? How did that happen?

The player we really want, anyway, is a power forward - which is what we've been missing since Kenyon Martin left.

Derrick Favors has the potential to be a star, and we're going for the home run. Brook Lopez and Derrick Favors on our front line? Sign us up.

Ridiculous Upside reacts: This is the first time the pick varies from my personal big board, but not by much. Favors is young, athletic, solid on defense and has ridiculous upside - makes sense to me.

Georgia Tech blog weighs in: From The Rumble Seat's research seems to show that Favors' Yellow Jackets, even with the help of fellow future NBA pick Gani Lawal, didn't exactly shut down NBA Draft-bound big men this past season.

Ridiculous Upside's Top 5 remaining prospects: 1 - DeMarcus Cousins, C, Kentucky. 2 - Wesley Johnson, SF, Syracuse. 3 - Al-Farouq Aminu, F, Wake Forest. 4 - Greg Monroe, PF/C, Georgetown. 5 - Patrick Patterson PF, Kentucky.

Sound off, SB Nation! What say you of the Favors-to-New Jersey pick?
