Saturday Morning Headlines From Around The NBA Development League World

Stanley Robinson will soon be taking his talents to the D-League.

I'll be honest, I'm lazy on this weekend. You probably already knew this, but the fact that I'm posting a Saturday Morning Headlines post in the mid-afternoon probably should seal the deal.

Let's get down to business.

  • First, but maybe not foremost since there were actual games played last night, Stanley Robinson, Joe Alexander, DeShawn Sims and Charles Garcia will all be joining the D-League by Tuesday afternoon.
  • Mike Harris, Antonio Anderson and Garrett Temple are all thinking about playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers again this season. That might be too much firepower.
  • The Springfield Armor are terrible again this year. Or the Erie BayHawks are way better than they were last year (which seems impossible without Mike Gansey).  Go read about that game over at D-League Digest.
  • Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn could suit up for the Sioux Falls Skyforce soon. Seriously.
  • The Iowa Energy beat the Dakota Wizards by 21-points last night. I was there until halftime before I decided I didn't want to throw up on anybody due to a random flu bug. So, since I didn't write the recap, read the venerable Lou Babiarz instead.
  • The Maine Red Claws lost their home opener to the Austin Toros, but that didn't stop the Red Claws' beat writer of writing a decidedly non-gamer recap mostly about Tiny Gallon.
  • The Bakersfield Jam surprisingly beat the Tulsa 66ers, who played without Latavious Williams and Jerome Dyson due to watch the box score called a coach's decision. Still, great win for the Jam that you can read about here.
  • There are six more games to be played tonight. Read Matthew Brennan's weekend preview for who to watch.

Can the Clippers do this?

The Clippers stink again; so could they possibly bring down Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, Al Farouq Aminu, and Willie Warren to the D-League right before the NBDL playoffs start under the guise of their players getting valuable playoff experience. That Jam team could beat the doors off the Rio Valley Vipers….

No

But they could assign three of the four and irritate a lot of people.

Would be fun to watch.

Erie has the #2 waiver spot

Robinson or Alexander would be perfect fits for this athletic team.

Where would they play them?

I would think with Eyenga and Tasmin Mitchell at the 3, they’re probably looking for an upgrade at another position.

Is this history making?

If the Clippers send Al Farouq Aminu down to the D-League, Al Farouq would be playing on the same D-League team as his older brother Alade. Have two brother ever played for the same D-League before?

opps i forgot the word team…

Let me be clearer

If the Clippers send Al Farouq Aminu down to the D-League, he would be playing for the same D-Leeague team that his older brother previsouly played for . Has that ever happened before?

How can I see the Futurecast archive for this season...

everytime I tried to open it, this appears: Futurecast can only be launched from its original location

Any ideas?

Good Stuff

I’m thrilled that DeShawn Sims will be in the D-League soon. The Vipers adding 3 guys with D-League and NBA experience who could be called up at anytime would be huge. Mike Harris is a joy to watch, but he should be in the NBA. I also really like Antonio Anderson’s game so I’m glad he choose the D-League route again. He just needs to refine his offensive game a bit and he’s an NBA player. I wanted my Bulls to sign Garrett Temple as their 3rd PG after he was let go by the Spurs. We could use an athletic, defensive minded, 6’6" combo guard who can guard 2 or 3 positions and knock down the open jumper, but I digress. Speaking of Spurs castoffs, any word on Alonzo Gee? I figure he’d head back to the D-League seeing as how he’d be likely to get a call up fairly quickly.

Gee got picked up by Wizards

NBA team. Hudson got waived.
